Will Yunel Escobar, the young rookie playing for the Braves can have a starting role for the team in 2008?

Yunel Escobar, can the young cuban and first year in the majors will succeed in the majors?. He can play short stop, 3rd base, and 2nd base. This season .326 - 5 hrs - 28 rbi - in 94 games and 319 at-bats. I think they should give him a starting role fo the Braves.Maybe in 2nd base. I don't know, Kelly Johnson is a good young player also, i mean, there's not much difference between Yunel Escobar and Kelly Johnson.

Good question, and I'm a fellow Braves fan.

My answer is yes. Keep Kelly Johnson at 2nd base, and start Yunel at shortstop.

I would the Braves to trade away Edgar Renteria, for a solid starting pitcher. I love Renteria, but Yunel would add more speed, and youth to the infield, and basepaths.

The Braves need pitching for next season.

I am a Detroiter and all they can talk about on Sports talk radio is the chance for the Tigers to get Renteria. 1st off the Tigers and Braves consistently do "buisness" with each other given friendships in management. Secondly it is well known around here that Carlos Guillen would move to 1st if they acquired a Gold Glove SS. No bodies have been mentioned in a trade yet but it looks like if there is going to be a deal this is going to be it. And lastly they have to clear cap space that was taken by Texiara. So to answer the question..Escobar WILL be the starting SS next yr.
