Could someone please explain to me Tony LaRussa's rationale of not starting Christ Duncan every game? Aside of Pujols, Duncan is by far the best hitter on the team. Adjusting for at bats, Duncan is doing almost every bit as good as 90% of the players in the league. If Duncan had logged as many at bats as Pujols, he would have 18 home runs, 48 rbi's, and scored 44 runs. Pujols has 16 home runs, 48 rbi's, and 44 runs scored. So basically, Duncan is performing at Pujol's current level. That being said, WHY is Duncan not starting every single game for the much ailing Cardinals?!?! Wow, I wish I'd checked that before submitting. Waaay too many spelling errors. |

Any time a player is having success like Chris Duncan is having, the manager should try to start him by any means necessary. Tony LaRussa is a very experienced manager and must have his reasons for not starting him as much. Is it because he has trouble hitting lefties? Is it because certain pitchers have had success against Duncan in the past? I think you'll see LaRussa do the right thing 90 percent of the time. Will Duncan get more playing time in the second half of the season? I honestly think he will and LaRussa will make that decision after he analyzes the first half of the season at the All-Star break. |

You tell me...Oh and Tony's doing his job i think he knows what hes doing don't think Pujols isnt good he is and duncans good he maybe should be but Its tonys decision not yours It's hard for me to question anything that Tony LaRussa does, but i agree. Not only for his bat, but for his hussle out in the field. He's not exactly the best fielder, but he lays out a lot for such a big guy. It's tough though cause the Cards are overloaded with outfielders and you can't take out Edmonds' glove and Taguchi is a fan favorite. |
