| I know maple bats are being used by many MLB players today.? |

Are there any MLB players that are using bats made from bamboo? For folks that don't know, bamboo bats are laminates. They are very hard & durable. They are also used in flooring. See http://www.slambats.com/products.asp?cat... |

wow! If one is to believe wikipedia, then yes, bamboo is being used in 'professional' baseball. That however does not necessarily mean MLB. I can't find a specific reference for wood types, but I know ash and maple have/are currently being used |

Possibly Ive personally used a bamboo bat and I think there aw some. there so hard to break. but I prefer to use my maple. i heard of tht i think it is a good idea. but no i doubt it. Bamboo is not a hard wood like ash or maple (its actually a grass). Bamboo is also much harder to shape and has a much softer inner core. Not good for making a bat. ... bamboo is hollow.... Most wooden bats are made from ash. Other woods used include maple, hickory, and bamboo. Hickory has fallen into disfavor because it is much heavier than other woods. Maple is increasing in popularity based on its hardness, lightness and durability, as reflected in the success Barry Bonds has had using maple bats. However, many professional baseball players and umpires dislike maple because maple bats can easily shatter. |
