5'6" and hitting for contact. Sounds like me my freshman and sophomore years in HS. Personally I liked a slight knee bend and having my front foot just slightly open. It allowed me to step into pitches on the outside of the plate better, and stay open for inside pitches. Though I lacked power, I could spray hits to anywhere on the field. My feet were just past shoulder width apart and I kept my hands slightly up and back. Although this is a pretty good stance, you need to feel comfortable more than anything else. Also, to help on inside pitches work on your wrists and bat speed. It will also add some pop to the contact hitting. A final suggestion for your stance would be to make sure its relaxed. Hope this helps, and good luck |

Just keep your back elbow up and you'll be fine.. Works for me, I always bat in the 4 or 5 spot. Bend your knees so your strike zone is even smaller. And keep your back straight. And keep your back elbow UP. bat like all small people do, bend ur knees (you seem to be a david eckstien) whatever feels comfterable......im 5'7 i bend my knees slightly and my stance is open my back elbow stays up...i like it Bat however feels best for you. But it helps if you keep your elbow up & bend your knees |
