Okay i am on a youth town league team. i am currently moving up to the senior leagur next year. Me and my dad like to practice outside and i want to get use to a hevier bat and also want my own. Iwill be one of the smallest on the team. I was also not one of the best last year. i have average strength but just need to practice more. that being said i need two things told to me in lamens terms. The Different types of bats(composite, composite-carbon, alumminum, scandium-alloy,double wall, half and half) and the benefits of each. Please only answer if u really know what your talking about.I also want to know what is the best bat for different prce ranges. Just give me a range and a few bats that you think would be best. I have also heard despite what my friends say not to get a "composite" bat because they use whiping technology which requires greater strength then a below-average strength 13 year old.i can only bench 60 but i know its not all strength Someone please help!!!!!!!!!! |

First off you need to stop worrying about the different types of bats that are available and find one that you are comfortable holding either in you stance or at arms length from you body. Because any top hitter either in collegiate or professional ball (myself included) will tell you that its all about proper mechanics. In fact the difference between a wood bat and and aluminum bat in distance is only 10 Feet! Oh and as for your strength don't worry about it. Look at Ted Williams (in fact go get his book "The Science of Hitting") he only weighed 180 and was one of the best power hitters of all time. Also get a Tee! Get a little more experience first. Why buy a super expensive bat that is made for a stronger long ball hitter. I myself used a good double-wall bat for years, which is a good bat for either kind of hitter, but until you increase your bat speed and strength why spend more money? Try 28 oz. for awhile, if your swing is getting right on the ball and getting good carry on the ball.Try heavier bat like 30 oz when you build up alot more strength and speed threw the box. first of all you need to make sure of the league rules before you just go out and buy a bat. Some mandate a minimum length/weight. My son was small for his age, but was one of the top hitters in his league regarding batting average. |
