Is it too early to draft?

I'm putting it off myself. There is still too much time for guys to come to camp and discover an injury. I'm psyched, don't get me wrong, but I'm of the opinion it's too early. What's everyone else think?

I think it's to early too. I mean what if Soriano gets a serious injury. That's why my draft is on March 31st.

Personally I think the best time to draft is one week before Opening day. That way there's enough time for owners to make at least one trade and comb through the waiver wire. Yes, right now is too early.

yea it is. thats why i have 2 yahoo emails. one is to mock draft and see who goes where. then when it is a week or two before the season, i draft under my main email address.

All of my main leagues except one are set for the week prior to the start of season. We wait until the final 40 man rosters are in.
If you are in a league that limits maximum moves, max trades or have a lot of teams in your league where you draft a lot of players it is stupid to draft until then. But I do have a 20 team expert league drafting tomorrow. Part of the leagues draw is exactly why we do it this early, it adds a new dimension of guessing IF someone will make the roster - so you expect guys like Phillip Hughes, Homer Bailey, Alex Gordon (maybe 8th round), Mike Pelfrey, Chris Young or Delmon Young to get drafted in the 15th round by someone willing to take a chance he'll get the call. I've even seen Andy LaRoche get drafted in smaller leagues and has gone before guys like Mike Stanton, Jonny Gomes, Trot Nixon.

Standard roto or small leagues (12 teams or less), I don't really care when it is because you never get that deep on a team's roster anyway. Injury is the only factor in that case.

i think you are correct, exh. games haven't even begun and people already drafting.

i think that when spring training games start is the right time 2 draft because u will no who will get practice and at what position

If you plan on being in a highly competitive league that has a fee I stronly suggest waiting until a week prior to the start of baseball.

Too many weird injuries happen in spring training games.

In the meantime you can draft in a few free leagues just for fun to get an idea as to where players are being taken and what you would do in certain draft spots.

if ur bored and feel like doing it then u should do it. I think it makes no difference, you are not at any disadvantage because every owner has the same risk of drafting players who show up to camp with injuries. Also, players are even more likely to get injured during the season then right now.
