Where I live I don't get any Yankee games...and I really pay more attention to National League games, teams, and players. I was just wondering what Kei Igawa's problem has been this season. I remember Posada and Giambi hyping him up calling him the best pitcher in camp, and the next Roger Clemens. But I seen on yahoo sports that Hughes woud replace him in the rotation and it's no wonder looking at his numbers. Velocity problems? Command problems? Was he overhyped? I'm just wondering.

Watching him Monday night, he had no command whatsoever -- pitches all over the place (Posada earned his keep that game), one to the backstop on the fly. He should have been pulled after four but Torre let him back out for the fifth to try for the win (which the bullpen blew for him, though the Yankees won the game eventually; Toronto let itself lose). While I don't mind watching the Yankees get beat, lose, or play badly, this was just embarrassing -- no major league pitcher should be on the mound performing like that. Even after a coaching visit, he was only good for one, maybe two pitches in a row.

Either his arm is hurting, or he simply is not ready for the big leagues, because he's not bringing something else to compensate for such reckless wildness.

Igawa's terrible pitching should have been the game story, but the media (print and cast) ignored it, because they always play nice for the Yankees.

He was over hyped. The Yankees saw the Red Sox going after Dice-K so they needed to keep up to par so they went out and got some guy who shouldn't be here. Igawa leaves his pitches up in the strike zone due to bad mechanics. A change-up or curve up in the zone is a recipe for disaster.

I think it could be that he isn't use the ball in the U.S. I know that the baseball in Japan is different ther than it is here. I know Dice-K got use to it quickly, but it also could be that he isn't locating his pitches in the right spot. He got away with throwing high pitches in Japan, but he's been getting hammered by the batters hitting that pitch.

The dude said himself that he's not as good as he once was in Japan, and that his biggest dream was to play in MLB. I don't think he really cares, he's played in the bigs, now hes done.

he was overhyped because the yankees thought they were gonna get a pitcher like dice-k he also has alot of velocity problems kei actually thinks that he pitches 97 miles per hour. he juss has problems all around no command hes wrong wit his mechanics

Control/velocity problems. He's great for 3 or 4 innings, then loses it. He's just way off.

He wasn't ready 4 the majors. He needs some time back in Japan, and then he should come back 2 AAA BASEBALL.

Igawa is TERRIBLE!!,However when the scouts saw him in spring training they said he would be a great pitcher if he was pitching in the NL,I think we might tade him to an NL league,He just isn't cutting it for us,we send him down to triple A a few months ago,But he just can't cut it! We got him BC boston got dicek,,And this is sad BC We could have signed Lilly,,Another Cashman brainstorm!

I think Igawa was just the poor mans Matsuzaka and that the yankees were hoping they found a gem when all they ended up getting was a lump of coal
