| Why are infield gloves smaller than outfield gloves? |
|
Im going to buy a new glove and i was wondering why infield gloves are smaller that outfield gloves. i play 3rd base and pitcher. |

The second answer is correct. Middle infielders and third basemen to a lesser extent use smaller gloves to be able to get the ball out quicker on throws to first. Outfielders and 1B use bigger gloves to enable them to have a little extra reach when attempting to catch the ball. |

infied gloves are smaller so you have more control it to scope up the ball. An outfielders glove is bigger so you don't miss pop flies. infeild gloves are smaller so you can get the ball out quicker and throw it to where it needs to be. First base gloves are larger. outfield gloves are larger because they provide a bigger target for hard fly balls. infield gloves are smaller so they can make quick exchanges to throw the runner out. it is very important to get a glove that suits your position. for you, i would get a PRO201-3JB. it can be used for both third and pitcher and it is most definitely a good glove. Infield gloves are smaller becuase if an infielder got a ground ball hit to him, and he scooped it up, he wouldn't want to waste time bobbling for the ball in his HUGE glove. |
