| Will Andre (The Hawk) Dawson ever make the Hall of Fame? He had an outstanding career that lasted from? |

1976-1996, 21 season, and had career numbers of: 2,774 hits, 503 doubles, 438 HR's, 1,591 RBI's and .279 BA. He was a dominant player throughout much of the 80's with the Expos and Cubs and was a gamer. He won 8 Gold Gloves, was the NL Rookie of the Year - 1977, was the Leagues MVP 1987 and was an 8 time all-star. I say, let him in. He was a dominant force in his day. Also, why is Ryne Sandberg in the HOF? class of 2005, and Andre not? Andre had far superior numbers. |

I don't know why they haven't let Dawson in. I can see why he didn't get in this year because Ripken and Gwynn would crowd everyone else out, but he should've gotten in earlier IMO. As for Sandberg, keep in mind Ryno had more speed and played near- flawless defense AND was a second baseman. There's a lot of great hitting outfielders, there's not a whole lot of second basemen that are great defensively and with the bat. |

Dawson should be in the Hall. His numbers put it there, however he is a victem of the sports writers. Also the times he had a chance he was close to making the cut but just never did. I think he will eventully, just not in the next 3 classes. Also the sandburg question, sandburg played 2b and was the #1 2b at the time. He transformed the idea of the 2b man in the 80s. I did not realize his lifetime numbers were that good. I guess the biggest mistake he made was NOT playing for a New York team. The double standard of both Football and baseball HOF's are a little hard to take. He should be in Well, he certainly deserves consideration. Many of his totals averaged over 21 seasons are less than stellar, though. He certainly deserve consideration for his defense when looking at those offensive totals. I definitely think he deserves it but not more than Sandburg. Maybe he had better numbers in some years, but I can't imagine his career numbers were, plus he was outfield and Sandburg was infield so I don't really think you can compare. I agree with all that posted. There is No reason "The Hawk" is not in! Some voters need their heads examined indeed. LET HIM IN HE DESERVES IT!!! |
