Jhonny Peralta is a HORRIBLE defensive shortstop. They take him out when Carmona pitches due to his sinker - meaning he gets a ton of ground balls.

I don't watch every team, and I don't look at every persons stats, but from what I've seen, every time the Blue Jays play the Yankees, John McDonald does a fantastic job at SS.

Orlando Cabrera would be a fine choice.

There were 9 AL shortstops that played at least 130 games - Range Factor should be far and away the most important when determining a players defensive ability, you have to be able to get to the ball first. Second should be the players fielding percentage.

IMO - Uribe & Peralta are the only serious contenders and the award should go to Uribe. It won't, Cabrera will win, the Gold Glove is a farce.

Peralta played 1348 innings at SS, 1458 would be every inning of every game. He did not miss much time at short.
