| How do you break a new baseball glove in? |

It's a Rawlings 12 1/4" Glove. |

Ive always liked using shaving cream. Glove oil is oil based, while shaving cream is water based, so the shaving cream will evaporate, leaving the glove softer. After that, I put a ball in my glove and wrap it in a rubber band... the classic trick. |

I've heard that slipping it under your mattress while you sleep helps to break it in. Put your hand in it close it and wrap a rubber band around it. leave it on there for three days. It always worked for me. Tie it wit several rubber bands, rub glove oil on it or have your dad roll over it a few times. get glove lubrication I always used shaving cream, like the guy above, and rubbed it in the glove. Stuck a ball in it then wrapped a belt or bunch of rubber bands around it to keep the ball in, worked it around the next day and repeated the process if necessary. Work it with your choice of shaving cream or glove oil. Then play a RIGEROUS game of catch. I know at the beginning it is stiff and not as fun but the more you play the more your golve breaks in to YOUR HAND. In between throws bend all parts of the glove inward to the center. In other words take the tops of fingers of the glove and push them to heel of the glove. Then you are not using the glove, put a ball in it and tie it uptightly. All of this creates an outstanding pocket! Linseed oil take a belt wrap it around it as tight as you can. Sounds funny but this works in 1 day. Make sure you get the fold exactly where you want it and then park your car on it overnight. Next day, play high velocity catch and you'll see that it's ready to go. Rub it with mink oil, put a few balls in it, close the glove around it and wrap it in rubber bands to hold it like that. Leave it over night maybe two and you should be good apply glove oil (or olive oil) to the face of the glove, place a baseball in the pocket, wrap several rubber bands around the glove, and let sit for 2-3 days. then play a progressively hard game of catch (start with a soft throw then gradually increase). |
