I can think of Pete Rose and Joe Jackson as my shoe-in (no pun intended) answers for this one but wanted to put it out to the group. This could include past players who never got voted in by veterans' committee, but - due to the eligibility restriction not the players who retired so recently they have not yet been named on any ballots. Thanks in advance for your answers, I'm sure this questions has been asked in the past but I'm not sure it has been asked recently.

Just five, huh? Well, it's a little hard. The writers have done such a crummy job over the years that there are quite a few, actually.
Pete Rose and Shoeless Joe Jackson simply are not eligible to go in. Unless some new evidence -- hard evidence -- emerges we'll always have to look into the Baseball Encyclopedia to find them because they won't be, and don't deserve to be, in the hall.

1.) Bert Blyleven -- he is being ROBBED
2.) Ron Santo -- the NL's Brooks Robinson
3.) Thurman Munson -- Bench is in, Fisk is in, and there was only one other catcher in that golden age of catchers.
4.) Tommy John -- all those wins, a post-season icon, and his name is forever on the surgery that saves so many pitchers' careers.
5.) Roger Maris -- he held THE record of baseball longer than even the Babe. 2 time MVP.

Rose and Jackson are not eligible, so there goes those two.

Santo.
Gossage.
McGwire.
Blyleven.
Either Rice or Dawson, depending on how the reader considers DHing.
