| Will A-Rod break Bonds's all-time HR record? |
|
Everyone is saying he will, but I say he will not. First--Bonds is not done at 757--he will probably hit at least 800 or so before he is done. Second--players get old and injured--it takes hard work but also good luck to even have a chance at the record. Ken Griffey Jr. was supposed to be the one in Bonds's shoes, but he just got injured too many times. Third--baseball might get all high and mighty and start serious efforts to eradicate performance enhancing drugs from the sport--and that increases the chance that someone like A-Rod or Pujols will get caught doing something (let's not kid ourselves that guys like that who get along with the media aren't juicing too). |

He should play about 8 more seasons at a 35-40 homerun clip. He has 500 now, with that average hit he will end up at right around 800. I think Bonds will hit his 800th next year or early the year after which will probably be his last and will end up with 815-820. It should be really close though. |

No if he doesnt get hurt then yes bonds didnt get injured, someone will eventually come along and break it, arod is the obvious pick because he is in the best position. truth is we never know I doubt Bonds will hit 800. He's very old and ready to retire. He may hit 10 more this season and another 20 at most next season (unless he juices more) at his age and the rate of hr's he's hitting, unless he gets the injury bug or something tradgic happens i see him over 800 home runs A-Rod lacks the stamina If A-Rod was to brake Barry Bonds record he would have to play about 9-10 more years and i think he's going to retire in 5 ............NO WAY pujols nor a-rod have taken steroids, considering their looks havent changed much since their rookie seasons, whereas Bonds' appearance changed dramatically ok first of all Barry will retire at the end of the season. A-rod will post up 45-50 for another 8 years and probably reach 30 hrs a season for the rest of his career. So all of this Barry reaching 800 crap will never happen and A-rod will break the record I would say yes. He is the youngest player in history to hit 500, and is probably going to play baseball for another 10+ years or so, which he'll probably average at least 30 HRs per season which will get him over 800 career home runs. |
