| Should the Indians change their name, since it is racist? |

I was thinking, should they change their name to the Spiders? After all, they would have cool black-and-silver uniforms. And they basically won the second game because bugs bothered that one reliever. Give me your suggestions. YANKEE FANS: DO NOT SAY LOSERS. I mean, you're all gonna say "It's a compliment," but it's really not. Imagine a soccer team in Berlin being named the Jews, and having a really bad drawing of a guy in a Yamika. However you spell that. LOOK AT THE FREAKING LOGO and then tell me it's not racist. |

wtf are u talking about??? Indians is not racist??? |

Whats racist about it? Our local high school had to changer their name from indians to timberwolves. No, I don't see why anyone would have a problem with them as they are I don't think that the Indians are racist . They just need to call an exterminator or put a dome on that stadium.. indians got lucky damn it and indians isnt racist it was neva a problem y should it be now??? The question should be directed to Native Americans on how THEY feel about it and then do what they say. You can take a vote from the Native Americans. It's their name. It's their determination and not ours. How exactly is honoring the Cleavland Indians who were the original settlers of Cleveland racist as for the Canadian bugs I'm sure they weren't out to get the Yankees sorry the better team won, overcoming adversity is part of sports maybe if the Yankees learned how to play as a team they would have beaten the Canadian bugs.. this is a non issue... All the teams with "Indian" names (MLB - Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves; NFL- Washington Red Skins; NHL - Chicago Blackhawks; etc) could be seen in the same light. I do not think these names are racist at all. The problem is most people who see these names as offensive do not see that the teams are trying to honor the tradition and heritage of the "indians" as a proud and honorable people. Um, I don't see how that is racist. Why do so many people think using a team name such as Indians, is racist?!? I don't get it! Nothing racist about it and by the way, they were once known as the Spiders many years ago and were named after an American Indian who by the way liked the idea so it stuck. Some want to be overly culturally sensitive or politically correct which is lunacy. ahhaah, I love the Yankee fans who say that the bugs cost them the series. No, your piece of **** team cost you the series. We played in the bugs as well and Fausto was unfazed. The better team won. Plain and simple. It's not racist. The logo could be better but it really isn't that bad either. Their old logs were racist. I'll admit that. However, I am part native American and really don't care that they are the Indians. I take it more as a compliment not an insult. the spiders are gay. if you made a slang name for the indians would be racist. the redskins are racist because theyre actual name is indians or natives. The Indians should change their name - as should the Washington Redskins, KC Chiefs, and Atlanta Braves. Looking into the Indians' past, the names Blues, Naps, and Bronchos are possibilities. If the Indians changed their name, so would the Braves, Redskins, Blackhawks, etc. I would say that the Redskins definitely should more than the others because I would find that to be most offensive if I were a Native American. It would be like having a team called the South Central Darkies. Shouldnt the Yankees change their name...it can be interpreted as being racist?!?! I alway thought the 'Spiders' was a cool name. NO!!! i don't think it's racist and i'm part Cherokee indian. I think people are way too sensative and PC these days! consider this: Padre is Spanish for father. So are the San Diego Padres being biased against noncatholics? or if it is not meant in a religious sense, then do they think fathers are more important than mothers? why not madres instead of padres? And Giants could be seen as excluding short people or even dwarfs. |
