| I can't believe the Cards just gave Joel Piniero a 2 year 13 million dollar contract. This guy is the? |

luckiest guy on the face of the earth. He's a joke. I'm a Mariner fan, and this guy is a total joke. He had a few good years, but has sucked the past 3 or 4 years. He sucked for the Red Sox, and did pretty good for the Cards, but not enough to warrant this kinda money. Who else agrees with me? |

Any lame-o can get $6.5 Mil a year nowadays! LOL |

totally agree i agree, but i think piniero will do good for a national league team, the NL hitters are nothing compared to AL, fastballs are used a lot more in al and pinerio has a decent fastball and good breaking ball which is key, too much money from my view but he'll do good enough for them hes a bad pitcher whos doing good against suspect national league teams, thats it. I'm a yankee fan and i loved it when he was pitching against us. I knew we would destroy him. The price to sign mediocre pitchers has been spiraling out of control for a couple years now. Unfortunately, it's going to get worse before it gets any better. The market for pitching this offseason is very poor. This is only one of the many overpaid contracts you'll see this offseason. Pitching is so thin in the big leagues that mediocre pitchers (and you can even say below-average pitchers) get overpaid. Despite what anybody says Piniero does have tremendous stuff. The fact that he hasn't translated that into success the past couple of seasons is not important to the Cards. They are hoping that he can harness that potential and get back to the pitcher he was in the few good years he had in Seattle. If there was more pitching out there, you wouldn't see guys like this getting overpaid. You have to pay a lot of dough to anybody who can get the ball to the plate these days. Piniero looked pretty good in the second half of the season, so he's now making more money than God. Welcome to free-agency. He sucks!! I agree that is a LOT for someone who isn't the greatest. But like the one guy said, he does better against the NL hitters so that's the key right now. I'm glad that they are keeping him for a couple of years. :) He may have a career in the near future. |
