What is the best way to ship baseball cards when selling on auctions?

I want to list my baseball cards on e-bay, but I never bought or sold cards on auction, so I am looking for someone who knows the ropes for selling baseball cards. Would like suggestions with best way to ship and basic shipping cost, lingo shortcuts, should I base prices from a Beckett? Should I offer international shipping? Right now I ship to Canada with my other auctions, does interest in this type of item go beyond that? If so what are the shipping costs? Please help I would like to make one basic auction profile that covers everything I need. Also is it typical just to scan the front of the card to use for the auction pic? I've looked some up, but there are too many to help find a basis to start.

I have been auctioning since 1999. I do not need auction advice. I am looking for specific advice on selling baseball cards.

If you go to eBay and look at what other people are doing with the same type of thing you can actually take and steal their web page and make it your own. I have done this several times, also you can use the eBay tools to let people figure up the shipping for them selves, and that is with you having put in what you want to make for handling. Go play around with it and you will be really surprised at how easy it really is once you try it.

I can only address the shipping aspect. I would strongly encourage you to use a carrier that provides tracking information and delivery signature. UPS, FedEx and DHL ground would be the way to go in the US. If you have some really valuable cards, you should look at outside insurance, as their insurance does not cover collectables. "Parcel Insurance Provider" would be the search.

I would be surprised if there was a major interest outside the US with the exception of Canada and Japan, but who knows. You may want to look into partnering with a mail forwarder if you decide to ship internationally, it minimizes the head aches. http://www.bongous.com is a reputable one, but you can research it by searching on "mail forwarding" Wikipedia has an explanation as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mail_forwar...

The only thing I sell on Ebay is baseball cards. My suggestion is to use a penny sleeve and a top loader. Ship them in a size "000" bubble envelope (I had 500 shipped from officedepot.com to my house for about $40. For up to one ounce it is $0.80 for postage. It is about $0.60 more for delivery confirmation (you need this if using paypal or the buyer can just say it was never received and paypal reimburses them..no questions asked). The confirmation is actually less than that, but shipping is more because you need to send it First Class parcel. I would charge $3.00 for the first 3 cards and $5.00 for up to 10. This would be for non-graded cards valued at under $10.00.

If you use and Ebay store your listing fees for inexpensive cards goes from $.35 to $.06 but you pay $16 per month. I Like the store option for selling several hundred cards. They are listed for 30 days as a fixed price. The stores draw a lot of traffic.

The fees you have to consider are
*The Ebay listing fee
*The Ebay final value fee
*Ebay store fee (if you use one)
*Paypal charges
*Envelope
*Postage

Feel free to email me if you have questions.
