I am hearing that some baseball people don't think the Cards were good enough to win and just got lucky. Slow down every one. I am NOT saying the cards were lucky. That is what I am hearing on sports talk shows. The Cards out played the Tigers I am not taking anything away from them. I remember whats it like for your team to get no respect PISTONS when they won. |

Ok,first the cardinals have won more games than any other team since the year 2000,658 to be exact thats 94 a year.to say they got lucky is like saying the same thing about the bosox in 04 or the astros in 05. Finally winning a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP is the icing on the cake. yes the Tigers didn't play up to there potiential but that showes just how hard it is to Win a WS,I'm sure they will be back and maybe the ball will bounce there way next time. It takes more than being the best team to Win,sometimes you have to get the breaks, and then captilize on those breaks, which the Birds on the Bat did.All of CARDINAL nation have been waiting 24 years for this and no matter what anybody else says THE BIRDS ON THE BAT are the BEST team in Baseball for the year 2006 |

Even if as you say they got lucky, they still won and you just cant over it can ya????LMAO I am OK with people saying the Cardinals were not the best team this year....but guess what? We've been on the opposite of that. In 2004, LOTS of people said the Cards were the best team, and they were right, but did we play good enough to win the World Series? Absolutely not. The Red Sox deserved it. That's why you play the games and why sports are great, the underdog can be world champions, and the Cardinals were certainly the underdog this season and the Tigers really reminded me of the '04 Cardinals, great regular season, solid postseason 'til they got to the World Series, the Tigers didn't deserve the World Series, the Cardinals did. The Cardinals were NOT lucky. sometimes the best team does not always win, you know as well as i do that it is who is playing the best at that time. Records mean nothing once the post season starts. That is what makes baseball so great to watch. Not like college football, what if baseball goes to that crappy system where in the teams with the best record play for the championship, that would suck Cardinals did get lucky! The Cardinals are/were the best team. There are 2 seasons, the regular and the playoffs. People have to remember that during the regular season, the Cardinals were playing with a lot of their best players injured. I wonder for instance, what Pujols HR number would have been had he not been hurt and out for part of the season, then not quite his old self when he did get back. What counted was that the players who were left, played well enough to keep us in the running (barely, but that doesn't matter). Once we made it to the second season, with most our aces performing, we dominated! And yes, the Tigers did make some mistakes, and I've seen some blame it on the poor weather and field conditions. But guess what - we were playing in the same weather conditions, on the same field, as they were. And I would think Detroit would have more experience in those conditions then St Louis. Our guys kept their heads together, played the sport with smarts and a plan (hats off th TLR), and made it to the top. One thing you have to consider is that the world series was played by two teams that backed into the playoffs. Cardinals were fighting for a spot and the Tigers got swept by the Royals in their last series. But they both got hot at the right time. Last year everybody was saying teh WHite Sox fell apart at the end of the season and almost lost a 14 game lead. They didn't and when the playoffs started they turned it up and put together one of the most dominating post seasons in baseball history (11-1). As a die hard cards fan I'm not going to lie and say : "ya they played amazingly" they did catch some lucky breaks. And if you think the TIGERS were the best team in baseball you are dead wrong; they played so terriably in the world series they're lucky they didnt get swept! People Are Saying The Same Thing Like Last Year When The White Sox To Me Who Ever Won Is the Best Team Until Next Year World Series Until A New Champ Is Crowned I think they did get lucky. The AL was a better league, and i think the offense of the tigers just fell apart due to the layoff. Also, the umpires called the biggest strike zone that ive seen in a long time, which probably helped the cardinals cus their pitchers did not have the stuff to get away with a smaller strike zone. |
