| Which ballpark is more hitter-friendly, Coors Field or Minute Maid Park? |
Now that they've got the humidor in Colorado, are more runs scored in Minute Maid? |
I would have to pick Minute Maid Park, not because of stats, but because of what the players say. The left field Crawford Boxes are a hitter's paradise. Astro Jason Jennings, formerly a Rockie, can attest to that. |

Colorado is ranked No. 1 among major league baseball parks. This is the second season straight that they have been ranked No. 1. SportingNews reports it is because of the humidity. Although Coors Field runs fell a little bit back in '06. Contrary to popular belief Minute Maid Park is only middle of the pack as far as "hitter friendly parks". Everyone thinks Minute Maid is a hitters park but in reality it does not hold a distinct advantage towards hitters or pitchers. If you were to look up the stats it is nearly 12th-15th in BA and HR's in that park. If it were so hitter friendly then guys like Roy Oswalt and Roger Clemens wouldnt have unprecedented ERA's like they have each of the last 2 yrs (actually Oswalt has had a great ERA every yr in the bigs with Houston). Oswalt's ERA has been under 3 each of the last 2 seasons and remember Clemens having an ERA of under 2 the entire season in 2005? That couldnt happen in a hitter friendly park. The Astros entire ERA as a team is always in the top 10 and alot of the times in the top 5 in baseball. Guys like Brandon Backe and Wandy Rodriguez have great success in Minute Maid (young talent for the Astros). Also, although Minute Maid does have a short porch in RF that only last for about 50 ft and then it shoots straight back and it is the deepest park in baseball to left center and center (the hill in center and the fence is 430 ft deep). So...Coors Field is ALOT more hitter friendly than Minute Maid. minute maid is ion housten, right.... i went there adn there were a lot of runs scored! The sites below include park factors. That's what you're looking for. For the first one, though, you'll have to scroll a bit more than halfway down the page to begin to see them. Coors Field. Colorado, no doubt about it Colorado is not what it used to be. I'd say Houston. That left field wall is Joke ! anybody batting 1thru 9 can hot a home run over that! Coors Field coors Your a moron. WTF do u think. |
