Why do so many people hate on the yankees?

im a yankees fan. i was raised to be a yankees fan, there my team. im gonna say they have the most fans out of any team in the major leagues, even out of new york area, they have fans, why? because they win, and have the greatest record out of any major league team in history.. is this why so many people hate them? jealousy? envy? just want someone to hate?

Most hate the Yankees because they're better than their teams.

Some hate the Yankees because they spend money, and their teams don't.

Some hate the Yankees because they're historically better than their teams.

Some hate the Yankees because some of their fans are whiny losers who just root for them because they win, and they act like all Yankees fans are like that.

I am also a Yankee fan I was born and raised in the Bronx but it could just be jealousy

Why do they "have" to have the best team every year? Can't they just be happy on being the 2nd,3rd,4th, etc.? Why do fans have to make up excuses when they lose? Every team has people that hate them. People just hate the yankees because they are either...
1. Red Sox fans
2.Hate how they "buy" their way into the playoffs.
3: Hate A-Rod

There are probably more reasons why too. It is just all based on someone's personal opinion.

Firstly, the Red Sox draw better on the road lately so it's between the Yanks and Red Sox who have the most fans...at the present time, at least.

Secondly, some people don't like the Yankees because (a) they always win, (b) they don't like New York teams or east coast teams no matter who it is, (c) they have the most money and there's a feeling that they can buy whoever they want, they're like the rich spoiled kid at school who always gets the best toys first, (d) the fans in New York seem to have a "we're better than everyone else" attitude, and no one likes that.

Personally, I'm not jealous of the Yankees. I'm interested in their history because it's a part of baseball and I love the game. But I do think the Bronx fans are some of the worst in sports, there's only two reasons to boo your own players: (1) they aren't hustling clearly and (2) they make some mental mistake that was pathetic. Why boo a guy because he strikes out? The argument of "well, I paid for my ticket, I can do whatever I want" is stupid. A guy isn't up there trying to strike out. Then they cheer wildly when they do something good. Yankee fans aren't the only ones like that but it seems to be a bad fan atmosphere.

I think part of it is that the Yankees, by far, have the largest amount of money to spend (check their salary reports on MLB.com) and can easily just "buy up" all the greatest talents. So, in my opinion, there really isn't a level playing field and it's almost like cheating. Check for example, the disparity in salaries from, say the Florida Marlins and compare it to the New York Yankees. The difference is just OUTRAGEOUS and totally unfair.

Many baseball fans see the Yankees and their fans as being arrogant and having a sense of entitlement because of their history.

How many "new" Yankees fans were rooting for them when they didn't go to the playoffs from 1982-93 (I'm not including 1994 because of the strike) or from 1965-75?

lately they've been kind of overrated. The Tigers beat them pretty easily last year.It looks like Cleveland is going to do the same. personally I like to root for the underdog.I understand you're a long time fan and grew up liking them but you must understand why people question their popularity. Unlike you I would say alot of their fans are on the bandwagon. It's easy to cheer on a team that wins all the time, though I think even winning can get old after awhile. That's why you don't see as many Mets fans.Stupid people gravitate towards whoever is winning but real fans stick with "their" teams no matter what.Actually I like that they are the wealthiest team because its funny to see a team such as the Indians with maybe a third of NYY payroll beat them. Its more of a slap in the face and shows you can't buy wins. The beauty of it is that the better team wins

I was born in Sweden, I live in Sweden even though I麓m a die-hard Yankee fan! And I think that the most is jealousy than "just to hate". Or they麓ve just heard it from their mates that the Yankees are the baddest team in the Majors or somethin麓. But I think they麓re the BEST!!!

Because people Know they Can't win against anyone in the Playoffs.

they hate them because they are so much better than their favorite team so to make up for that they have to hate them

They think their better then everyone.

look at it this way, if some guy at work has every advantage and brags about how much he makes and all his good fortune and all the action hes getting, you enjoy when he gets pushed down the stairs and breaks his hip, its simple really.

Here's why I hate on the Yankees: in 2001, they as much as told everyone that their postseason opponents should roll over for them as a gesture of respect for 9/11.

Or, to phrase it more precisely: "We deserve to win because of what our city is going through." Paraphrasing both Torre and the Boss.

By the way, I'm not persuaded that it's a coincidence that they've melted down in every postseason appearance since those comments were published.

I don't know I was just born that way.

i seriously doubt that they have the most fans out of any team in the major leagues...but thats besides the point. everyone hates the yankees for different reasons. sox fans hate them because for so many years the yanks have been better...they've one so many world series and everyone thinks its time for their team to win. maybe it is jelousy...maybe they do just want a team to hate... i couldnt really tell you because the hatred goes back so many years and im only 15. all i know is that the yankees are the 'evil empire' and no matter what team is your favorite...you always root for the team thats playing the yankees. i guess its just common sense to anyone other than yankee fans.

ps. GO RED SOX!

because, like truth and justice, it's the American way.

My dad used to tell me as a kid that if you dotn hate the yankees you are NOT American.

it's the only right thing to do.

I hate the Yankees for two reasons:

1) They have such a huge financial advantage over all other teams. They can make mistakes like Carl Pavano and it doesn't hurt their team as if any other team wasted that kind of money on him. (However, part of this is baseball's fault for not having a salary maximun or minimum to keep it competitive.)

2) The owner and the players for the most part are very unlikable. Arod, Damon, Giambi, Clemens, etc. are very unpopular with many fans. It seems like only Jeter has any heart; all the others are there to collect an inflated paycheck.

I think if they were more like the Yankees teams from the mid-90's with scrappy veterans like O'Neil and Polonia combined with young guys from the farm system like Jeter and less like the "buy-a-championship" team they have not they would be less hated.
