Do like the idea of a new yankee stadium?

i wish they would just stay in the old park, there is so much history there, we dont need a new park.

I don't like it and I agree with you, the team should stay. Plus, this is coming from a RED SOX FAN.

no

i agree with you

I like the idea of NO Yankee Stadium. I hate the Yankees.

I would like it better if the new stadium was in the middle of the hudson river.

Yes............ I am a huge Yankee fan!!!!!!!!!!!!

I completely agree with you. Why erase the yankee's history, its so much more personal the old way. I think peolpe love going to the yankee stadium because its home, not because of how it looks.

the Yankee's, who cares about the Yankee's. Fenways been around since 1912 and is the greatest ballpark in baseball. If anything, build the G-Men a new stadium!!

I GUESS IT DOES HAVE A LOT OF HISTORY THOUGH IT WOULD BENEFIT THE FANS TO HAVE A BETTER STADIUM IS IT STILL GOING TO BE IN THE BRONX THOUGH THAT IS
A HIKE FOR THE MANY LOYAL FANS WHO ATTEND....

no

No, I don't. Renovations are nice, but unless the building is not structurally sound we need to preserve this bit of history. Mind you, it is not the same as The House That Ruth Built, and the monuments are no longer in play as in Mickey Mantle's day (if a ball got stuck in them it was a ground rule triple), and the pillars are gone, but the memories are still there. Sometimes we need to choose tradition over skyboxes. Get rid of George Steinbrenner, not Yankee Stadium!

No, they don't, but this solves a number of problems.

I'm sure that there was only so much they could do to keep the old ballpark in as good condition as it is now. Steinbrenner has a lot of money to put into this which is why it was passed so quickly. He will have to contribute less to revenue sharing or whatever it is due to things such as luxury tax he always has to play for the Yankees' insanely high payroll.

The facade of the old stadium, the field of the current, and modern amenities like you would only dream of. Sounds like an OK idea to me. I just hope that they keep Monument Park where it is.

The New park might be a good idea but with the ballpark that the Yankees have now it really doesn't make sense to build a new one. The current Yankee stadium has so many memories form the past great legends like Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle who are now dead. It's a good idea but I prefer that they keep the current Yankee stadium and NOT build a new one. But that is just my opinion.

I'm a Mets fan but I love the look of Yankee stadium with it's white pillars and flags. You're so right about the history part. That's not something you can just re-build into a new stadium even if you put in another Monument Park.

the yankees should move to a little league park, but it has to have a shower room, so jeter and a-rod can have their private time.long live fenway!!!!! 1912-whenever

I've gone to plenty of games at Yankee Stadium and it appears to be just fine. It's not run down or anything. The price of tickets are so much now, I can just imagine how high they will be at a new stadium...so NO I do not like the idea of a new stadium, especially since it will be moved across the street (by the current left field)

Well, it's being built. not because they need a new ballpark, but because it offers Steinbrenner a tax dodge.

Clubs are allowed to write off a portion of the revenue sharing obligation as "Operating Expenses" when building new stadiums. It's a big reason why the Mets are doing the same.

The exterior design of the new ballpark is based on Yankee Stadium circa 1923 -- with the frieze and the limestone facing. The interior design is not much different than any number of other HOK designs (see Citizen Bank, Petco, Busch, et al)

For those interested in the Mets, or new Nationals ballpark design, along with how stadiums are designed and built, may I suggest you read my interview with principle architect of HOK, Earl Santee. (See the source for the link.)

Also, I will be sourced within an article on George Steinbrenner in the NY Times sometime in July.

And... as I have said in other threads,...

If you wish to ask questions pertaining to this type of aspect of baseball (stadium design, business, franchise sales, such as the Braves, etc.), I will be conducting a chat on Baseball Prospectus on June 21st starting at 2pm EST. Questions can be asked in advance.

Use the folloing link to ask questions in advance or on the day of:

no i thinkt he stadium looks stupid ..y tear down a stadium to build another one that looks the same with the old stadium outside and a big glass rctagle in cnterfield...they should used the money for this stadium and added to the money being used for the new mets stadium which looks way better then the new yankee stadium

yeah tear it down

Not at all!!!!!Yankee Stadium is so special because of all the history there.A new one won't be anything special, just another ballpark. They have so many people that go there to visit because it is such a historical thing. The whole idea is stupid.Everyone loves Yankee Stadium now....just leave it!!!!!!!!

I think the Yankees need a new stadium, but I think they should move the old Yankee Stadium up to Cooperstown so that everyone would be able to see and enjoy what is the a historical monument
