| Why should we feel sorry for the Cubs? |

Why? They've had plenty of years to try and win the World Series. In fact, since they've become the Chicago Cubs, they've had 15 trips to the postseason and 2 World Series wins. It may have been a while since their last trip, but they've had 12 chances. Now, we're supposed to feel sorry for them because they're "cursed"? I don't buy it. It sounds more like an excuse than anything else. They have a payroll of over $100 million. They have a big fan base and a huge history. They have about all of the advantages you can get. In my opinion, it's not a team we should feel sorry for. It's a team that doesn't take advantage of the opportunities that it has. You want an underdog to root for, go for the Milwaukee Brewers each season. During their drought, the Cubs have had five playoff appearances. They've had their chances. Now, this season, they had to ruin the Brewers season just so they could lose again in three games. They don't have the same resources the Cubs have. This was their first season where they could actually spend some more money. They're still trying to build a more permanent fan base. |

The Cubs are a classless organization that stands silently while the media and fans run someone out of town because of a foul ball. They never stepped up and said "it's our fault". The Cub organization is gutless and Cub fans are classless. |

There's always next year. Can you say 100 years anniversary? we shouldn't. it's been years. they can stop blaming mrs o'leary's cow, ernie banks, ron santo, steve bartman and sammy so so any time now! because life-long fans like my dad may never see a world championship. He is 67. die bartman Because they haven't won in 99 years. screw the cubs they've had their chances i dont feel sorry, i mean they got swept in the first round they never had a chance or even put up a fight. Amen my friend, reading your commentary is like sweet honey on my lips. I'm so glad to hear a brother speak truth like that, something sports journalism itself lacks. You couldn't be more correct. Baseball, let's stop feeling sorry for the Cubs, they just aren't lovable anymore! Why did everyone feel for the Red Sox? to have to wait this long means they are perhaps the worst orginazation in sports... poorly managed, poorly run, bad talent scouting, bad scouting period.. you would think that maybe in 99 years they would have won by accident like their south side brethren... i wouldnt root for the cubs if they gave me a free hat and a ticket to wrigley... The poor souls of Wrigleyville sloshing in their beer stupors this morning. The goat has bitten them in butt again!(he turned their bats into rubber and their arms into ice!) |
