Do you think Today's MLB teams could beat America's past time why or why not?

ok so as history shows the great teams of all-time are from the early 1900's so if they played each other do you think Today's MLB Team's could beat America's past time

ok I will re ask my question Do you think Today's MLB teams could beat America's past if America's past time had the kind of training we do today.

No the defense of to days players is very poor.Bad defense allows runs to score that other wise would not.Seldom in the past did teams score more than five runs per game.If a team scores five runs today threes a great chance they will loose.

No not at all. The teams of yesteryear had heart & determination. They played for the love of the game much more than today's players who are spoiled beyond belief. The players of yesteryear played through many injuries while today's players go on the DL for a papercut. Yesteryears pitchers would pitch a complete game throw & come back to pitch again 2 days later(Cy Young Walter Johnson are some examples) While today's pitchers are wusses who cry to be taken out of the game after throwing 90 pitches. There was no such thing as that wussy pitch count that today's Baseball has.

Easily- players today are such better athletes and train all year round. Plus, any nationality or ethnicity is eligible to participate, increasing the pool of able players.
That being said, it really is a moot point; no one can control the generation they play in. Those who were great then deserve to be recognized for their accomplishments as is.

I agree with the second poster. With the talent and athletes in today's game, I think they would pummel the older generation if they played each other as they were(are). Todays players are stronger and in better shape than the older players, plus there are players of every race and ethnicity today. I do, however, think that the players of yesteryear would still be great players in the modern age because they would be subject to the same stimuli..better training, smaller parks, livlier ball, etc.

It's really impossible to compare the teams of the early 1900s to the teams of today. The older teams played in larger ball parks, they had to deal with pitches like the spitball and the emery ball. Pitchers could do whatever they wanted with the ball. It was more of a speed game back in those days. And obviously there was the issue of race and how blacks and other minorities could not play in the majors (although there were many great Native American players in those days). But it was even harder for the white players to get into the majors. A lot of players got discovered through luck, for example, every town had a baseball team and a player would get discovered if a scout just happened to be passing through the town that day and saw the player play. It was a completely different era. The game has changed too much to compare todays teams to the teams of the 1900s.
And like the others said, the way players train as totally changed as well and they are obviously more physically fit (mostly).

No. There are so many differences. The most glaring one is pitching.

Pitchers back then were taught to pitch well enough to hold the other team and conserve some extra juice for when they really needed it. Today's pitcher goes all out for 100 pitches and then falls way off. The pitchers then were built for endurance. Today's are like sprinters.

Just 40 years ago, Pedro Martinez would have been no more than a good #5 or long relief/spot start. Roger Clemens would be more like a Ray Culp, good #3, occasional 15-17 game winner. The pitcher today who would hold his own well then would be Greg Maddux. He is a real pitcher and could succeed in any era.

In addition, you need to clarify if you would be using a baseball from today, with the rubber band in the middle that gives it extra juice, or the ball that was pretty much standard until the beginning of the early to mid-90s.

Also, would you use the 15 in high mound that was used, in large part, until 1969, or the current 10 in high mound. This would make a huge difference as the arm slot is changed between the 2 and, therefore, the mechanics for most pitches, especially breaking stuff.

On the whole, I would give it to the old timers. They didn't stay on just the outside of the plate when they pitched. And, they didn't stand over the plate when they hit. Today's pitchers are afraid to pitch inside. The old timers would never have let one of today's guys rest close to the plate. They would have backed them off, REAL QUICK.

I think so Because the Players are Bigger and stronger and More Athletic then 100 Years ago, Players weren't like that in 1900's HGH and Steroids Didn't even Exist then, so they only get better now.
