So its official that Phillies is the worst franchise in the history of sports?

Overall yes, One world championship in all the years they've been in existance.
Of the older clubs this is what their records are
Cubs since 1903 2 World Championships, 10 Pennants, and 14 Playoff Appearances
Boston Red Sox (1908 - 2007) - 5 World Championships, 9 Pennants, and 16 Playoff Appearances
Cincinnati Reds (1890 - 1953,1960 - 2007) - 5 World Championships, 9 Pennants, and 12 Playoff Appearances
Cincinnati Redlegs (1954 - 1959)
Cleveland Indians (1915 - 2007) - 2 World Championships, 5 Pennants, and 9 Playoff Appearances
Detroit Tigers (1901 - 2007) - 4 World Championships, 10 Pennants, and 12 Playoff Appearances
Philadelphia Phillies (1890 - 1942,1945 - 2007) - 1 World Championship, 5 Pennants, and 9 Playoff Appearances
Pittsburgh Pirates (1891 - 2007) - 5 World Championships, 9 Pennants, and 14 Playoff Appearances
St. Louis Cardinals (1900 - 2007) - 10 World Championships, 17 Pennants, and 22 Playoff Appearances
New York Yankees (1913 - 2007) - 26 World Championships, 39 Pennants, and 46 Playoff Appearances

Just because they have the most losses doesn't mean they are the worst. They have been around a lot longer than most franchises in sports history.

NO, absolutely not!

Just because they have the most losses doesnt mean their percentage is lower than any other team. They are not even the worst team in the history of baseball.

That beeing said they have the worst fans of any franchise in the history of sports. They boo them for EVERYTHING

I don't think so. The Cardinals in the NFL Suck. The Devil Rays suck. The Phillies have just been around longer than most franchises.

I wouldn't say THE worst, they've won a World Series, but they're up there. Along with them, the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals? I don't remember when the Expos were good, even with Pedro Martinez and Vlad Guerrero (is that spelled right?), and Washington was good for half a season. Tampa Bay's up (down?) there, I'd say, those would be 3 of my top 5 probably.

EDIT: completely didn't see history of sports. Yeah, the NFL Cardinals are bad, there's probably a hockey team that's been awful forever... Atlanta Hawks, NBA, they have to be close.

I agree with Sam, the Phillies have been around a lot longer than a lot of teams. Teams that come to mind before the Phillies are as follows: The Detroit Lions, The Kansas City Royals, The Tampa Bay Devil Rays (although only 10 years old). Those are the teams that just come to mind right now. The phillies are still a good ball club. I was watching 1st and 10 today and they said that the Phillies have 8 thousand and some wins, eighth most in the Majors.

That is true but with 8300+ wins where are they on the all time win list of teams
Why?
because life is a circus

You are wrong! They have the 4th lowest winning percentage in baseball. There are worse teams than them. Even each league (NFL, NHL, and NBA) have teams with lower win percentages. Look it up before you mouth off. Baseball also plays a greater number of games than any other leagues - and the Phillies have been around since circa 1893.

Not even close...it just shows that they have played in alot of games! No other sport team can break that record, b/c they dont play 162 games a year...and the phillies had a head start over most other mlb teams, b/c they are an old franchise.

The Arizona Cardinals and LA Clippers are far worse franchises!

No, the Detroit Lions has to be the worst franchise in the history of sports.

There are 8 current major league franchises who have never won a world series, while the Phillies have won 1. The Cubs haven't seen the World Series in 99 years.

The Arizona Cardinals have never been to the Super Bowl. They last went to a big game in 1948 which was the NFL Championship game(almost 20 years before Super Bowl I). The New Orleans Saints have never been to the Super Bowl in their 40 year history.

they are still the greatest in 124 year history they lost thqat much.

The Devil Rays must be the worst and they even beat the Yankees sometimes, so what does that tell you? Besides, 10,000 isn't really that bad for a team that's been around as long as the Phillies and the Braves aren't that THAT far behind.

Expos were the best team the strike-shortened season, but no they've been playing since the 1880s, the worst of all time is the Cleveland Browns, Art Model moved them because Cleveland sucked, they come back and still suck

I dont think so they have been around for a while.

Why do so many people say the Lions are the worst franchise in sports? They were good a long time ago and not so much lately, I know. But If we're going by history, then lets say the Cubs, BoSox, ChiShox, Indians, Cardinals(nfl), etc.. At least they've (the Lions)won championships (plural) in the past. When people stop watching and stop caring about the team, then you can really consider a team a "bad" franchise.

not even close to official. the phillies have been around for over 120 years. they are 8th on the all time wins list too. and the braves are also only about 50 losses away from 10000. it just shows that they ve been around long

No, they aren't even the worst in MLB history. I'd have to give that to the Indians. Worst in NBA would be the Clippers. Worst in NFL my hometown Lions and in the NHL the Blackhawks.

THE OVERALL WINNER....THE LIONS. Totally inept.
