| Who is the best third baseman in the history of baseball? |
|
Brooks Robinson is the best defensively, Mike Schmidt, while not as good, put up better offensive numbers than Brooks. Ron Cey was pretty good too. Historically, Pie Traynor would be the best, but since I never saw him play, I'll have to go with Robinson. |

Brooks Robinson brooks robinson or mike schimdt Schmidt since arods career isnt done yet, i would say mike schmidt. The Human Vacuum Cleaner. Brooks Robinson The greatest defensive third baseball I ever saw was Clete Boyer of the New York Yankees. There was no one better!! He may not be in the hall of fame and certainly was not as good a hitter as his brother Ken Boyer of the St. Louis Cardinals but for pure defense Clete Boyer had no peers!! History will tell you that Mike Schmidt and Brooks Robinson were the two best ever and from a statistic point of view (offense and defense) they would have to be considered just that, but anyone who really knows the game of baseball will tell you all you want to know about Clete Boyer. Ryne Sandberg played second base and ARod is a shortstop who moved out of necessaity. Defensively, of the players I have watched, Brooks Robinson. All-around, probably Mike Schmidt. For my money Mike Schidmt from the Philadelphia Phillies he was awesome... I would have to say Brooks Robinson, since he won 16 Gold Gloves. brooks robinson hands down. said it b 4, will say it again. you cant put arod on this list. he is not even close. George Brett, Mike Schmidt, and Brooks Robinson all have legitimate claims. Way back when we might talk about Pie Traynor, but that's just on reputation at this point, nobody really knows. I'm a Ron Santo fan personally, but he's probably more like a Scott Rolen than a Brett or a Schmidt, which is okay but not "the greatest." Brooks Robinson brooks robinson defensively he won the most gold gloves but offensively it would have to be mike schmidt. chavez could be better defensively at this rate and rolen could catch schmidt offensively. i would say arod but he has most of his stats at ss Defensively, Clete "the glove" Boyer, played for the Yankees in the early 1960s. Not a great hitter though, so it doesn't really answer your question. i am a yankee fan, and deffinately not a-rod. People who say he is the best, you cant even classify him as 1. he has been it it for what, now like 3 years, and he sucks there. i would say Brooks Robinson on the Baltimore Orioles. his baseball hof plague says it all Hands down BROOKS ROBINSON!!!!!! One name that no one mentioned is Wade Boggs. One of the greatest hitters of the 80's. Led the league in hitting five or six times, and a hall of famer, to boot with over 3000 hits. Schmidt had the offense and Robinson the D. Never saw anyone before them play so those would be my guess based on what I've seen. Brooks Robinson and Eric Chavez..... If you can say Arod I can say Ripken who went from short to third but he didn't do it for his team he did it for a championship which he dosen't have. Brooks Robinson, also Cal Ripken Jr. Forgotten: Frank Malzone Ron Cey, Dodgers 1980's era team thres a lot of good ones AROD Scott Rolen. Phillies/Cardinals. the cubs great. the ryhno. ryan sandberg The best third basemen is Alex rodriguez he doesn`t make a huge amount of errors he dives for the ball and makes great catches. |
