| Biggest bust in MLB history besides Mo Vaughn with the Mets, Lenny Dykstra with the Phillies, and Albert Belle |

with the Orioles, was Chan Ho Park with the Texas Rangers. Homeboy made around 50 million in parts of 4 seasons from 2002-2005 with the Rangers and only won 22 games, that's more than 2 million per win. Albert Belle was a bust for the Orioles, because they signed him to a 5 year contract, and he only played 2 seasons - 1999-2000. He got paid almost 40 million more for 2001-2003, 3 years that he was technically retired, but didn't announce his retirement because he wanted to get paid, he was injured. |

Park was pretty amazingly bad. Just couldn't stay healthy. |

Apparently everyone forgot about Hideki Irabu. When a player is a MONSTER bust, it's refered to as pulling an Irabu, Pretty much says it all. Report It I think Clemens was the biggest waste of money. He really put one over on the Yankees this year. JD Drew is making 14 mil a year and he's been a disaster for Boston. Report It Dykstra helped the phillies to the World Series. Vaughn with the Angels or the Mets was pretty bad, but what about Arod at $25 with anyone? Edgar Renteria with the Red Sox in 2005, that was a bust. Gregg Jefferies with anyone. He was THE most hyped rookie bust in my lifetime. He never amounted to NEAR the hype he received coming into the big leagues. I wouldn't consider Belle a bust, he put up some big numbers for Cleveland. How about Brien Taylor, #1 draft pick by the Yankees in 1991. He never got to the majors after hurting his arm in a bar fight. The Mets traded Nolan Ryan to the Angels for Jim Fregoi. Fregosi had been an All Star 6 or 7 times as a shortstop during an era when a shortstop who could hit at all was a rarity. He never really got started with the Mets and was never a full time player again. We all know what Ryan did. Clemens this year got about $4 million per win. Jose Canseco....everywhere. I definately would not even think about throwing Renteria out there. He batted .287/10/72 the year before with the Cardinals. The next year was .276/8/70 with the Red Sox. That is not enough of a drop to be considered a huge bust. |
