Most overrated player in baseball history?

A) Don Mattingly
B) Derek Jeter
C) Phil Rizzuto

pretty boy Jeter

gets so much credit Report It

NONE OF THE ABOVE.

B. Jeter does hit well for average, but is well below-average in the power department.

Jeter's lifetime batting average is .317. Moises Alou, for example, has a .301 career average. So Jeter is slightly better in that department, but Alou is much more of a power threat.

Jeter gets the attention he does because: 1) He has played in NY his entire career. 2) He has been on good teams, and therefore gotten post-season exposure. 3) He is handsome and single, which makes him good tabloid fodder.

D. Mark McGwire. He was an average fielder, average hitter and average RBI person when comparing his power numbers to other sluggers. He looks a lot like guys from the past ....Greg Luzinski, Bob Horner, Cecil Fielder and a laundry list of others. the only thing he did more orf is hit a few more HRs than those guys but his year to year stats are no better. And a lot of those type players never had themselves involved in any "enhancement" controversies. And to think people wonder whether he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, if he is a candidate then the Hall should be ashamed when guys like Jim Rice cant get in even though his numbers compare very favorably to McGwires.

B haha

A) Don Mattingly - Could go i the hall as a coach/player. At one point during his career was considered the best player in baseball.
B) Derek Jeter - Hall of Famer for sure
C) Phil Rizzuto - Is in the Hall of Fame

What is your point?

Derek Jeter being on your list is just stupid. Matttingly was a good hitter , but no one ever thought he was going to go to the HOF. Rizzuto I never saw play , but I think he was just an average player if you ask people who did see him. I would say the most overrated players are
A) Schriladi
B) Varitek
C) Manny Ramirez

At the risk of angering many that think he is one of the all-time great pitchers, I'll say Nolan Ryan.
Strikeouts, no-hitters and his longevity is impressive. But not sure if he belongs up in the rankings where he is.

Jeter.

Derek Jeter. Besides several of his amazing plays, he hasnt done anything to say he is great. He flies under the radar, doesnt have wowing stats. I really believe he is ovverated. When he makes mistakes he doesnt get blamed or booed, because some how people believe he won the 4 championships for the Yanks.

D)None of the above
Jeter a great shortstop, Mattingly had a stretch of 3 or 4 years where he was pretty much the best hitter in the A.L., and Rizzuto is too old to hate on.

None of those! Barry Bonds is .

D. ManRam

buckey ****** dent

None. Stop hatin' dude.

a. Don Mattingly No championships!

DEREK JETER SUX

Reggie Jackson, but of those three its Phil Rizzuto, then Mattingly, and then Jeter.

D) Barry Bonds

All of them- baseball sucks.
