Most genuine player?

Who do you all think is the most genuine player in major league baseball? meaning-who plays for the love of the game, gives it his all every game, all game, leaves his heart on the field, and personifies the sprit of baseball? looking mostly for active players, but if you feel a former player most defines the answer...have at it...

in the game today Brian Roberts of Baltimore head and shoulders above the rest.

albert pujols

Grady Sizemore= Cleveland Indians : )

Barry Bonds ..

Mike Piazza

barry bonds

Mike Piazza all the way. Hell of a guy that Mike Piazza.

Cal Ripken enough said

derek jeter. every game and every play. Pujols is probably the best in the game right now so he's not a bad pick either. Barry Bonds, hahaha, spirit of baseball is not shooting yourself up w/ illegal substances, look at pictures from when he was with pitt and now. There is no question he's doing something that is not all NATURAL.

Coco Crisp

Albert Pujols no doubt!

first of all Barry Cares for Barry. PizzaMan never had it never will but he does love the game. Cal Ripkem Jr. tight very tight..Current times....I would say that the most GENUINE player would be...1st don't get genuine confused with Best..my choice would be CHONE FIGGINS. plays hard everyday never complains looks like he loves the game. If he wasn't in the Pros he would be playing ball somewhere.

but all time goes to PETE ROSE..Mr Genuine HIMSELF. & He NEVER once BET against the REDS..

PEACE

A lot of people are picking players that are in the limelight. The limelight does not personify baseball. Grady Sizemore is a good choice. Players that play day in and day out with their heads up and show great sportsmanship are the players you look for. Players that work with their community becuase they care about those that are not as fortunate as they. I will choose Joe Girardi who just recently retired and became the manager of the Marlins. This guy loved the game, played the game hard and very smart. He is always signing autographs and visiting with fans. Before he retired he was a back up catcher for the cubs and I had the chance to witness what I already knew was true. I saw him talking to kids around the bull pen throughout the game. Then happened to run into him at Harry Carrys resteurant and he chose to eat with us common folk instead of using the VIP upstairs. He was gratious and spoke to everyone that spoke to him. He even signed a menu for me. I will never forget that guy. I don't think Cal Ripken Jr is a bad choice either. Pujols and Bonds aren't even close for seperate reasons.

Cal Ripken Jr and Tony Gwynn were both players that could have cashed very big paychecks elsewhere but stayed with their teams because of the love of their cities and the love of the game. You really don't have that loyalty anymore but of the players playing today I have heard only one that has said how happy and lucky they are to be able to play professional baseball and make a living playing a kids game that he loves.......Kevin Millar
