Joe Torre a Great Yankee a TRUE YANKEE , will be Missed as Yankee Manager . Personally , he poured all his heart and soul in to the games he managed , He Changed the Yankees Franchise when he Came to New York the Yankees were not as good , but Torre changed that franchise around.

What The Yankees did 1 Year 5 Million dollars , Many say he rejected b/c oF Money you serious MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!, I think he rejected b/c they offered him a 1 year deal he didnt want to go thorugh the Same **** he went threw this Year.

As a Yankee Fan how the Yankees Organization Handle this situation Im ashamed thats all i can say .

I agree, Joe was a heck of a player and one helluva coach. NY is gonna miss him. I dont see how he stayed as long as he did with George and all that stuff that comes with that.

For now, certainly......but it is a major business and the team will move forward towards 2008 and so will the fans. This is a major news story and will remain so until the club hires a new manager.

Torre will be in the HOF for his managing, though I'm sure critics will point - as they did for years - that he failed everywhere until he took the helm of the Yanks. But sometimes managing a quality club is tougher than a middle-of-the-pack team with lesser expectations.

Ofcourse he will be missed. You can't replace a manager like him. Well, maybe you could *eventually*... You can't replace a guy anywhere near as good as he just like that. It will take some time and the Yanks will be sorry they let him go. Watch them not make the postseason next year and Torre will be laughing his head off. Which, he should if they do because they should not have let him go in the first place. Yankees management has handled this conflict poorly.

Asking a guy to win a World Series like every 2 years is crazy. They should just be content they even made it to the postseason like this season as an example because they just barely made it.

Money? Funny Joke. I'm not a Yankees fan, I am in fact a Red Sox fan. However, it just won't be the same next year, if I don't see Joe's scowl 19 times. As much as I hate the entire Yankees organization, Joe Torre is one of the few people on that payroll that I would tip my hat to. He is definitely a Hall Of Fame manager. However, I think the issue at hand is the fact that he doesn't know the state of the team next year. If A-Rod opts out and Posada leaves, you're losing a combined .325 average, 74 home runs, and 246 RBI. That's not going to be replaced by any other third base and catcher duo. You're also potentially losing Pettite and Rivera, as well as Clemens.
I wouldn't want to come back to a team with all those questions. A paycut of 33% doesn't help matters.

I have seen a few games where decisions he's made I thought had a detrimental effect on the game, and that occurred about four times. The guy's managed what 1,100-something wins and 4 WS and 13 Post Seasons with the Yankees. They (Steinbrenner & Sons or Cashman) are absolutely retarded to let him go.

Who the heck do they think they'll replace him with? Mattingly? Mattingly was a 1B, All-Star. Good Managers (of the caliber a Yankee Manager would need to be) are either Catchers or Pitchers, not First Basemen.

I mean his first year there he managed a Word Series win... Another thing when we had that knuclkehead Dan Duquette he spent so much time blaming other people ... after a while there was nobody left to blame. The same thing will happen to Cashman (who looks like a typical New York City sleaze bag anyhow).

Again, as a Red Sox fan, it's great news. I hope Torre goes to Texas, he can work some magic with them. He's a classy guy and he'll have a good future. Yank fans get ready for us to take many more Division Pennants now that you've just let the most experienced and argueably the best manager in baseball walk out the door.

do Yankee fans remember what life was like WITHOUT Torre? He's been there so long i don't think so. Many people who voted today on ESPN.com predicted that the Yankees would not even make the playoffs without Torre next year. This is a BIG blow. I think Yankee fans need to take a look at what life was like BEFORE Torre arrived.

The way in which Torre was "coerced into quitting" showed a complete lack of respect and class on the part of the Yankees organization and the Boss and the Bosslings. I am not too thrilled with Cashman either, I think he is a weasel.
The Yankees team will go on as all businesses do. The human factor is what makes a team familiar to its fans, not just the great athletic feats the team does.
