| Reaching over and grabbing a baseball from player? |

i was watching the redsox angels game and sum fan reached over and prevented the catcher or sum1 from grabbing a foul ball... also i saw sum fan reach over when barry bonds hit a homer and pulled it into the stands and they ruled it a ground rule double.... wuts the rule on reaching over to get a ball? |

Don't know what the rule is, but it real does suck when they do that. I've seen other baseball games where the fans have done that. In away it's be nice to see the catcher smack em......LOL |

The umpire can make the ruling. If he wants to get a fan out of the stands and let him bat or pitch, he can do that. If the ball is in the stands it is fair game for players & fans alike. If a fan reaches out of the stands, over the playing field, then that is considered fan interference & it is up to the umpires to decide what to call. If you reach on to the field it is ruled a ground rule double if the player couldn't make a play (has to be fair, obviously!). I am an angel fan as was bummed when the fan caught the ball. The ball was actually in the stands the the first baeman was reaching into the stands to try to catch the ball. Are you serious? He didn't reach over to grab the ball, it sailed right into his glove. I don't know why people are making a big deal out of this. Boston would've won anyway, only difference is, they would've won 5-3 instead of 6-3, and would've been down one run heading into the 9th. fans can't reach over into play but a player can catch a ball that is out of play and get an out... Hey, wanna speak french, learn English first, bud. Oh, and the kid did not reach over, it came right to him, he had every right to go for it. |
