Why does anyone care whether Barry Bonds used steroids or not?

I know this issue hasn't been brought up lately, but why would anyone care whether Barry Bonds used steroids or not? I understand that he may or may not have broken the rules, but come on...Mark McGwire was as big as Batista back when he was playing(because of Andro)and no one said a damn word about it. Sammy Sosa was on 'roids to and I don't hear anyone saying anything about him. So why all the fuss about Bonds?

Well, because he's the face of baseball and the Homerun king. You always have to go after the top athletes. No one cares if, say Jim Sorgi used them. He's the backup to Peyton Manning, so no one would care. Now if say, Brette Favre (which he's not) were accused, then that would be a story.

I just hate the guy. If steroids is going to be the spot on him then so be it. Baseball is run by purists. They don't change nothin for nobody.

he dont use seroids hes not even that big

i just absolutly hate the fact that he got credit for making the homerun record when its obvious he cheated!! hank aaron should still have that recordd. the worst part is that he wont admit itt he says that he just worked out a lot.. yeahhhh im sure ok if it was working out wat exercise did he use to make his face blow upp?? lift dumbels with his tongue?? it just makes me sooo annoyed hank aaron deserves that record NOT barry bonds

Your guess is as good as mines but I venture to say every time a black man accomplishes something great "they " are going to find a way to discredit him. It's our history.

Because he was the only one to challenge (and break) the most sacred record in sports. I mean, no one cares if Marvin Benard (who?) took steroids!

i don't hate the guy and i don't like him either. i do think that it took a lot of time and effort to break the GREATEST RECORD IN SPORTS. however, people hate him because the record was previously set by someone we know didn't use anything to enhance his body except for red meat and a gym. and the guy before him did it on beer and hotdogs. how would you feel if dale earnhardt jr. came out in a car with a bigger engine and won the championship for 5 straight years. think people would hate him?

Because as a professional athlete whether you like him or not, he is a role model for young kids. In my opinion, his HR record is not legitimate and he should be banned from the game. When his balls are the size of raisins and his heart and liver fail, he'll understand.

Because it is an illegal performance enhancing drug, that could kill you, and he knew they were against the rules and I am guessing continued to take them, McGuire was investigated and admitted to a performance enhancing drug ( can't remember which one ) but it was a legal drug.

yes he definetly is. its too bad he's really nice his brother, bobby bonds, used to train me and he said hes really friendly and stuff but he never brought up the roids issue. even though im tight wit his bro i gotta go wit baseball on this one.

If Bonds was using steroids and thought that was acceptable, he should have had the balls to come out and say it to the people that pay his salary, the fans.
He knew he was doing wrong.

Why was it wrong, he was getting an advantage that was illegal (in US law), a HORRIBLE example to kids and stunk of greed and it showed how small a man he was.

No one said a word about McGuire??? he got 23% of the HOF votes instead of 83%, lots have been said by that fact and the fact that no one was asking "why didn't you vote for McGuire?"

cause he broke the HR record but being on steriods i dont think he deserves it.the others didnt get rewards for using steriods why should he.

(if he hadnt used them there wouldnt be any talk)

For all the cheating that these baseball players did, only Barry Bonds was able to carry it over a career to break a career mark.

Recent newspaper and magazine articles tell how the steroids increase muscle mass which translates into increased bat speed. Just the 4% increase in bat speed that has been calculated is enough to be the difference between a spectacular out and a spectacular homerun.

McGwire and Sosa did not get off scot-free. They were called to testify before Congress 3-4 years ago.

nothing better to do but worship or hate people

nobody really cares .. its a spoof to keep Americas mind on totally useless stuff while the government does their underhanded deeds.. (i.e the war.. i.e never finding any weapons of mass destruction).. the list goes on and on.. so basically it side tracks Americas interest

There has been alot said about Mark McGwire...He was the one who went before congress and under oath, said "I never used steroids"!..This was his quote..I watched it when he and some others had to appear before congress...He flat out lied and it came out later...He lied!..Sorry, but they had a lot to say about about Sammy Sosa also..However, he never lied before congress about it...
All the fuss about Bonds is due to the fact that it is common knowledge that he took HGH..Human Growth Hormones..You might find it somewhere on line...don't know...Am going from my memeory here...
