Do rain out rules apply in the baseball postseason?

yes

no change on rules
TV may control it

The rain out rule still applies; After six complete, it is a game.
But I don't think there has ever been an instance when they have called the game (after six innings) in post season play. They just keep playing (and rightfully so).

yeah they had a rainout last year at yankee stadium, game 2

yesss. they apply to all games.

MLB has never had an official, complete, rain-shortened postseason game.

There have been games totally rained out (2006, 1986 Game 7, others), players never took the field -- or, in the case of 1989, called on account of earthquake.

There have been very few where the game started and was called (due to weather) -- the only one I know of was in the 1982 NLCS, but there may have been others in the deeps of time. Since "nothing counts" there are no official stats, only mentions in newspapers.

MLB has waited out a long delay after the game is official (5+ innings), such as in the 1998 ALDS between Texas and New York -- Game 3, which was an elimination game for the Rangers, was played in Arlington. In the bottom of the sixth, with two out (and the Yankees in control, 4-0), the rains fell and the game was delayed for three hours, 16 minutes. You'll rarely, rarely see forbearance that generous in the regular season. The teams waited it out, the game resumed, and finished in predictable manner -- the 4-0 stood as the final, and the Rangers were ousted.

It would, I think, require extreme, unprecedented circumstances to get MLB to call a postseason game official but short.
