Joe Torre turning down the Yankees?

Hey Joe, come coach the Pirates.

Cheers!

Good for Joe. Hes been a great manager and a good man for baseball and while I dont like the yankees, I do have a lot of respect For Torre. The Yankees should have just fired him outright if they wanted to be rid of him, instead of offering a paycut and an incentive contract to that has to be the third most successful manager in their pennent laden history. Torre is 67 now and he can do about anything he wishes, its so sad he only wanted to manage the Yankees. It also sends a negative message to Arod, Posoda, and Rivera. Give Joe a big hand...it wasnt about accepting 5 mil..it was about being treated with no respect for what he has donenot only on the field but about protecting his players from the frotn office..Joe Torre is class...make no mistake about it

Don't Remind me I'm so sad and Mad at the Yankees Organization how they Handle the deal

P.s Can i Have a Cookie to Make me Feel better

He was forced out...too bad!

Steinbrenner is so ungrateful!

Come to S.F. and coach the giants, its the west coast! were the best in all aspects of life might as well have sports too!

good for him. im so freakin' sick of espnews talking about this. They didn't even show my show PTI or Around the Horn because that was breaking news.

yeah..you know the mgmnt really didnt want him back...with a crappy offer like that...good for joe for turning it down...he deserves better!

it's called self-respect. let george
steinbrenner wipe his own..well, you
know. here, have a cookie..

Look the relationship got stale. They both needed to move on. They will both be better for it. I hate to see Joe go but maybe we need a change. We have looked unmotivated alot over the past few seasons maybe having Girardi as coach will light a fire under this team and go out there and win another 4 world series in a row.

Good luck with that.

He will rather become a sports analyst than coaching the Pirates.

They just made a huge mistake letting him go. I think they purposely low-balled him so he would reject it. He is too good for them and deserves a GM who respects him for who he is. One of the greatest managers in the modern era.

Being treated like a 3rd Class citizen for 12 years while taking the team to the playoffs every season? I don't blame him one bit! He should have flipped them the bird and told them to kiss his @$$ years ago.

Treat your people like $#!+, expect them to $#!+ back on you. Congrats, Joe, on wising up finally!

HE SHOULD HAVE CALLED THEIR BLUFF & PROVED THEM WRONG BY WINNING NEXT SEASON IF THERE REALY WAS AN OFFER.YANKEE FANS DESERVE BETTER IF TORRE REALY CARED ABOUT THE FANS HE WOULD HAVE STAYED.7.5 MILLION IS RETARTED MONEY FOR A MANAGER ANY WAY.

A manager only does so much, i think its a very over-rated position. I think they get a lot too much credit when they win and a lot too much grief (and firings) when the team loses. Not to say they don't have an influence on the game, but it is much smaller than the players. Now they probably win or lose up to 5 games a year, which may or may not be important.

in terms of torre

A. who gives a S, i'm glad i dont have to listen to this anymore

B. He will find a job in a heart beat

C. now we get to have fun seeing whos crazy enough to want to be ridden by Big George and listen to NY fans.

He will probably retire...
