There are many other pitches that you could try. For example, some are the drop ball, rise ball, screw ball, and curve ball. With a drop ball you hold it like a regular fast ball (with fingers on the backwards "C"). Your wind up starts out normal, but when you get to your hip you turn the ball over and snap down. For a curve ball you grip the ball on the bottom of the "c" with your index finger curled, and on the top of the "c" you put your middle finger, and the rest of the fingers follow. Wind up like normal, but come across your body when you snap. Hope that helped, if not check out www. pitchsoftball.com. It has a lot of excellent tips on different pitches and techniques. |

I don't know any other pitches, i'm sry, cuz all i no is the windup and where it goz is where it goz 4 me. Step One even with small hands you can throw a knuckle ball... grab the stitches with your fingernails, use three and put the little finger flat on the ball.. you want to make sure you are holding the ball so that when you release itall four of the stitches will be going into the wind. You said you switched, did you switch pitching coaches? He should help you with some new pictures... But it sounds like you are doing ok right now.. But to be good in high school you have to get uour speed up to 60 or close to it. Your fast ball should be thrown with just the two stitches into the wind. To send a good drop ball or a change up other then the knuckle ball. Grab the ball so that the four stitches will be going into the wind. Take a short step and follow through with your pitch reaching for the sky... Good luck... Grant M in Pennsylvania |
