| Here is an idea, why not have Joe Torre return as bench coach to whoever the Yanks sign as manager? |

Yes? No? Thoughts? |

When a new manager comes in he not only replaces the old manager but gets rid of everybody else as well on the coaching staff. He wants his own people there. That idea would never work and even Torre would decline. |

Hell, that defeats the purpose of firingTorre as manager. All the new manager (Assuming that the Yanks let Torre go) is going to do is turn around and ask Torre how to run the team. That generally does not work. The players look at him and the manager and wonder who really they should listen to. How about firing Cashmen, the guy who decided to give Torre only 3 quality pitchers total? Let it go dude... Because Joe Torre isn't an old has-been like Don Zimmer. He still has the drive and tools to manage. Sounds like an OK idea, but I wouldn't think that Joe Torre would go for that. It would be a demotion, plain and simple--sort of like Don Zimmer, once manager for the Red Sox, then becoming a bench coach. Besides, it's not like Torre is like 80 years old or something. that would be ridiculous because Torre led them to multiple championships. Either make it a clean break or leave him as the manager, plain and simple. Why on earth would you degrade Torre like that? A bench coach after leading them to rings? no way. It would be a real slap in the face to Torre. I am no Yank fan, no way, no shape and no form but allow the man his dignity and I am of the opinion that he should not be fired to begin with. The whole thing is just totally ridiculous. No offense but I think it is a ridiculous suggestion. |
