107 Miles per hour, pitched by Nolan Ryan. |

I know at one time it was Nolan Ryan at 100.3 mph, but thats pobably been beaten by now. he did 101.9 in 2002-4 I think? Anyhow its hard because those radar guns are usually calibrated to read slightly higher for better crowd reaction =/ 108 miles per hour... Nolan Ryan or Bob Feller nolan ryan with 103 MPH when he pitched it it of course struck the guy out and the guy said to the umpire "i didnt even see it" that is how fast the pitch was. i'm extremely positive that Kerry Wood, when he was a flame-throwing healthy beast, threw a pitch that was almost 104mph, but I think it was like 103.7 or around that area Detroit's Joel Zumaya threw one at 106 last season. Mark Wohlers 103 mph, Nolan Ryan. Baseball Almanac honestly does not know. Major League Baseball does not recognize radar speeds as an official statistic. The Elias Sports Bureau, Stats Inc and The Sporting News are all highly respected resources who publish some form of record book every season, yet none of them recognize any pitcher as the fastest ever. Nobody really knows, but we do hope this article has shed some light on the topic and at least provided you with additional material to argue with your friends. |
