| Tiger Stadium and Detroit city council? |

Why are they in such a hurray to demolish a landmark instead of the abandon buildings and houses by elementary schools? They must be getting some kind of kickback when the auction rolls around. Gotta love Kwame. im just sayin they are trying to demolish this first above vacant buildings that kids get raped in while walking to school. Did they teach that in your urban class? There are other downtown properties that need to be razed before this one. |

A landmark...you've got to be kidding. Have you seen how bad that stadium looks? It's so out of place in the revitilization efforts going on downtown its not even funny. If they tear it down it will open up a lot of viable real estate for businesses to come in down there. It looks great around the new stadiums and they are trying to continue working out from there. As for the other issues, you can't clean up the city in a day...they have to start somewhere and whats wrong with trying to clean up the business district? If they can do that then it will bring in better jobs and individual people will be more willing to relocate to the Motor City and some of the other problems will be taken care of by real estate developers and individual citizens. Its a long complicated process to clean up a city like Detroit, but in my opinion they are going about fairly well by trying to attract new commercial ventures downtown and allowing them to assist the city in other clean up efforts around town. |

A hurry? Tigger Stadium closed after the 1999 season. The Kitties moved into Comerica in, ta-dah!, 2000. I'd hardly call farting around for eight years "in a hurry" even for a notoriously corrupt bureaucracy. The City of Detroit has dillydallied the last 8 years. |
