Why Isnt Shea Stadium Called Mets Stadium?

Shea Stadium was originaly supposed to be called Flushing Medows Stadium named for the location that it was built. It was changed to Shea Stadium in Honor of Willam Shea. An attorney that finally brought the National League back to New York. Shea along with Branch Rickey created the Continental League in the late 50's to compete with the two Major Leagues. Even though it did not play a single game they did force the Majors to expand.
The teams included Kansas City, Seattle, Aniheim, Montreal, San Diego, Houston,but more importantly New York City. It was the doing of Willam Shea that finally brought a National League team back to the Big Apple, the first since both the Dodgers and the Giants left for the West Coast in the late 50's which was one of the main goals in creating the league in the first place.

And to honor is contribution to brining back a National League in New York the Mets named the stadium Shea Stadium

Shea Stadium is called Shea Stadium because it is named after William Shea, a Lawyer who help bring National League Baseball back to New York.

Why is Jets Stadium called Giants Stadium?
