Yes. Absolutely YES. Any games played to break regular-season ties are counted as part of the regular season. Tomorrow will be Game #163 for both the Padres and Rockies. All statistics are counted in players' regular-season stats. 1 game tie-breaker games DO count towards the regular season stats. Technically they aren't the playoffs, they are an extension of the regular season. 162 games is not set in stone. While the 1 game tie-breakers are rare, it is not uncommon for rained-out games not involving any playoff scenerios to never be made up leaving some teams w/less then 162 regular season games. |
