What's YOUR perspective on Barry Bonds?

I think he should be able to hold the record, becuase not all of his talent has come from steroids, he's trained and sweat like everyone else in the league.

the guy is a massive talent which you have to appreciate. i dont buy the statement that steroids dont help help hitters hit home runs. agreed the hitter still must have good hand eye and be able to hit a 95 mph fastball but being stronger has to help. this is why bonds hits more home runs than ichiro, bigger stronger.

i am not a bonds fan, and believe the circumstantial evidence against him is enormous (like his body) but the guy has never failed a test. in this country we are innocent until proven guilty.

He will break the record but eventually A-Rod will break that record

****************************************...
That is all I have to say

but look at him when he was a pirate he did not hit too many hrs he stole bases and hit singles

I think he used steriods. Hank Aaron did it truthfully and Bonds did not, by using steriods.

This whole thing is so confusing. I mean, he was a HOF before roids, and after roids he was still a HOF. I just wish steroids were never even invented!

what is barry bonds????

*confused*

Imnot a firm believer that he got as far,as he did due to drugs,I also dont believe athletes or any one should take any thing to get the advantage, but Im not really satisfied that he is all that guilty. You have to be born with natural talent to achieve what he has done, along with the other athlectic greats.IM very sure that their was a lot more individuals that have done things just as bad,but never got caught.Look at all the players that would have ingections to injuries so they could complete a game.Sterolds can make you bigger and stronger so they say,but do they give you good timing or hand and cordination to hit a basebll at 95 mph. Also take his age now what 43 I know not as active as was but still can hit a baseball, better and farther then most players half is age.

Hopefully everyone shuts up about him after the record and their wont be 8384584853 questions on him. A-Rod is sitting on 500 hr & he just turned 32 (or 33). I believe Alex will break it..only time will tell.

Now whether or not he is respectable is determined by baseball fans individually. Even if he breaks the record one thing everyone will remember about him his name being brough up during their whole steriods era of baseball. Kinda like Clinton's sex thing he had going on right?

Even if I dislike a ball player, I will still more then likely have respect for them. It takes alot to be a pro ball player. Millions aspire & only thousands will make make it. So just making it & being somewhat successful you get respect from me.

As for the steriods thing, if he would own up to it I would have a little respect him. If I were him & did it I would fess up. I would hate for the only thing people to talk about is him breaking a record & possibly taking steriods.

In short, I think he's a coward for not saying whether or not he used steriods. If he did take them he had better be forced to come out publicly about it and tell everyone. Or atleast "Yes, I did take steriods" in an interview would be nice. Even if he did this, I still think he would be hated by baseball fans.

The fact he won't come out & say whether or not he did it gets to me. This makes me feel that he did take them.

BE A MAN BONDS!!!!!! Fess up!

i , personally, cant stand him. he doesnt deserve the record. i bet thered be alot more players hitting 755 hr's if everyone cheated and took human growth & steroids ( and its completly obvious). hes been cheating his way into cooperstown since like 1998. nd the worst part is, is that he wont admit it. even bums like giambi admitted to steroids so why cant bonds admit to the obvious? hank aron did it without cheating which is the way it shud be done.

i hate a-rod but i do hope he breaks the record one day cause atleast he aint on anything.

LETS GO METS =]]

I am a HUGE Dodger and Yankee fan, and I say he should keep the record!

Many people cheat in life. He just got caught!

He is still an amazing hitter. Steroids or no Steroids

Pretty much all of them use roids at some point and most of them cycle it consistently..... Might as well give him the same respect all other athletes get.

If you look at him now and when he first started in MLB, you should be able to decide for yourself if he took steroids.
I have to say that he is a slugger, there is no doubt, but this is his era not Hank Aaron's and he should be given the appropriate recognition he deserves for the accomplishment he has gain. No matter if you hate him to not he still has done what only one other man in history has done and will undoubtedly pass him. Maybe someone will come along and break it who knows but until that time he should be afforded the same courteous as Hank Aaron or Babe Ruth for their accomplishments.

My perspective on Barry Bonds is everybody wants to talk about how he took steroids so that he could hit home runs. Please people, wise up. The guy had 500 home runs prior to him supposedly taking steroids, so obviously the guy didn't need steroids to hit home runs. The other point is, if you give most of us steroids, we still wouldn't be able to hit a home run. Hitting a baseball takes great hand-eye coordination, steroids is not going to give one that. The final point is why is Barry Bonds the face of steroids in baseball or sports period. If steroids is the issue, lets focus on all athletes who use steroids. I personally feel that this assault against Bonds is because he's black. It is clear that Mark McGwire, Jason Giambi, Rafeal Palmero, and a host of other white athletes have used steroids, and yet you never hear their names mentioned. Everyone wants to make Aaron their hero today, but 33 years ago he was as hated as Bonds is today. You hang one black man, and then hold up another black man so as not to appear racist, but most of you are just that, RACISTS!!!!!! It actually is pretty pathetic and sad how some people want to take a serious issue as steroids to spew their racist venom towards Bonds. You know who you are, you hide behind the issue of steroids which most of you really could care less. I would have more respect for ones concern about steroids if they went after all athletes who have used or been alledged to have used, including LANCE STEROID ARMSTRONG!!!!

You got that right. It's never-ending, man. Don't waste your time. Dummies are born everyday, and then those dummies have children and the cycle continues. That's why we have so many dummies today.

And frankly the word "cheating" is taken out of it's true meaning when people use it. Cheating entails breaking rules. Back in the day greenies and red juice weren't even against the rules, just like at the time current players were supposedly taking steroids, et cetera, they weren't against the rules. Now they are against the rules and people who get caught breaking these rules are "cheaters"! There is no doubt in my mind that Barry took something, whether steroids or HGH. I believe it was just HGH though. But that's besides the point. The man can make contact with the ball and works hard. He had a an extra early batting session to get his swing back and to break out of his slump. He is also a hard worker. Its not like he took steroids, and became and fat. He continued to improve and get better, and here is evidence. Also, I don't think he has tainted the game because the game was tainted long before he was even born. Looking for new things to enhance god-given ability and hard work has always been a goal of all athletes, whether it be GNC or Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative or whatever the equivalent was 50-100 years ago!

But like I said trying to explain that to people who have pure hate in their blood is a waste of time. Logic doesn't enter their mind because they are not rational people.

He is being allowed to play so any HRs he hits will count in his final MLB total. That means the record will be his until someone passes him.

Sure he has God-given talent and worked to develop it. He also has probably taken steroids and turned a lot of long outs into home runs. That's the stigma Bonds will carry the rest of his life.
