| So, Joba's gonna be a starter....? |
Yankees.com says Joba will begin spring training as a starting pitcher. If he's a starter in '08 that will help the rotation, but now what the hell are we gonna do about that wreck of a bullpen? |
As a Tiger fan I think I'd rather him be a starter. |

Well I think thats was the best decision because he is a starting pitcher he was only a reliever in 2007 because of the horrendous bullpen , They Just need to figure that out That off season as a yankees fan id rather see him as a starter, but if Mo leaves, then i want him to be a reliever Hey, when Mariano Rivera was first brought up to the majors he was a starter. wreck of a bullpen? how many different starters did the Yankees use this year? Their starting pitchers r all way past their prime . (except for Wang) Its a lot easier to find some decent relief pitching then to find a first class starting pitcher. Joba as a starter a logical and correct move. I was hoping they would move him into starting, you can always go back to the pen if neccessary. Plus I own him on my keeper fantasy team. Part of the reason the bullpen was a wreck this year, and for the past few years is that they've been overused and burned out. Just ask Scott Proctor and his record # of appearances in the last few years. Yanks need a rotation that can pitch past the 5th inning and go deep into games, which is harder with older players. A few young starting horses will only help the situation. They had said that about a month ago that Joba would be a starter in 08........Right now I think the rotation needs more help than the bullpen does..........We can probably pick up a couple of "bullpenners" during the off season...........What we need to do is pick up some good ones..........CAT Papelbon wanted to be a starter as well... If he can be a dominating starting pitcher that can be more valuable than being a closer. A lot of people seem to think that he can become another Rivera but that is pretty unrealistic. What set Rivera apart from other top closers was his phenomenal record in the post season. NOBODY else has ever been that good for so many games. But that untouchable Mariano hasn't been seen in 6 years. Expecting another pitcher like that to appear in the Yankeess midsts is pretyy unlikely considering there has only ever been one like that, ever. I'd rather him stay in the bullpen, since he's proven to be automatic. As far as the bullpen's concerned, we need more young talent. That was the plan from the begining! they said it all along he was gonna be a starter,i'm not surprised, look for alot of other changes for our club! from what i'v been reading in the papers lot's of changes are in store! well, i doubt we will get posada or mo back yes im serious. we had our chances. posada is a great catcher ill miss him alotm, and mo wow he is gonna make a lot lot money were evr he pitches nvt yr, cuz they are both testing the market and u no some1 is gonna pay them just to keep them form us. They say we have some guys to replace joba and mo in the bac end but i think we will get someone.mabye a bob wickman Just make sure he knows that he should not put any off on, if he comes to Cleveland during the season of the Midges. It attracts them. Joba should be a closer...if he starts, then that gives the other team an advantage when they are last at bat and jobs is no longer pitching......2 words ~ JOBA RULES <333 |
