Any hope for an allrounder to play college baseball?

Hi,

Im a hard-working Ozzy boy who is, what you would call, an all-rounder. I get A's in just about every class I take (which are physics, maths, chem and so on), I play A grade baseball in my area and only narrowly miss out on state swimming times dispite not regularily training (I hate swimming)

I am looking at studying in the US next year in a pre-med course as a way to eventually get into a Medicine Program. While im there would there be any chace I could play baseball while im at it? I REALLY love my baseball and can play very well.

Ive got an 83mph throw but I dont pitch...

If you can pitch or catch the odds would be very good. Grades don't hurt you but they also don't help you. What will help you is a strong arm and to impress the coaches. Getting in at a jr college that has a good Baseball program can get you transfered to a bigger school if you show talent. Pitchers and catchers are always in short supply. Hard to find people with both talent and desire at those spots. If your exceptionally fast you can try for CF, SS or 2b. There is far more competition and locals are well known and scouted so it'll be harder for you. Biggio who collected his 3,000th hit recently started as a catcher. Kendall until he mangled his leg was also very fast.

Another thing you can try is getting a season in with the Australian pro leagues. It'll get you the exposure you want and show proven talent.

It depends on where you play.

I know if my area there are men's hardball leagues that are very competitive.

Once you get to the states look around for such a league. But the thing is if you haven't been playing for a while you may have an adjustment period when you begin. The guys in my area are quality ball players. So just be ready.

Sure. But coming from outside the US there are some things you need to do. Contact the NCAA.ORG to find out what you need to do to become eligible. You also must be cleared through the NCAA Clearinghouse (They work with but are not a part of the NCAA) in order to even walk on anywhere. www.sportsworx.com can help with the whole process.

Oh, grades are important. You must have at least a 2.0 at the very least in your core courses to be eligible.

you wouldn't make it as a pitcher... but if you could play another position in the field and if you could hit well i guess you would have a chance
