Coaching youth baseball, need tips?

I am coaching a youth baseball team
Ages 10 - 11
Any Tips Would Be Appreciated Greatly
i.e. practice drills etc.

thanks alot.

teach them the proper way to field, throw and catch........

The main thing is to make sure the kids have the fundamentals down. Dont work on any trick plays, run downs, or anything like that until they know the fundamentals, or you wont get anywhere.

#1 teach them the correct way to play
#2 and most important let them have fun
#3 dont argue with the umpires

teach them all about fundamentals and alot of batting practice but make it fun for them too

As a former Little League umpire, you would be surprised how kids seem to have more fun when they are sure what to do with the ball when it's hit to them. My former coach would spend 20 minutes of practice allowing kids to run the bases using situations (2nd and 3rd, 1 out, game tied in bottom of the inning, grounder to third) and then offer something if we made a certain number of consecutive correct decisions.
It also teaches baserunning and helps kids gain confidence in understanding the game. Once they see how slight improvements can make a huge difference, they seem to motivate themselves to get better.
